




Lara Uzokwe is the founder and manager of the Charity. She was born in Nigeria and moved to the UK in 1982, before moving to Suffolk in 2001.
Lara left her legal career to embrace service to the local community, especially providing greater opportunity to the young and disadvantaged. Despite the charity's early struggles and having to migrate from home to office space, to community centres, to church halls, she has held the charity together and after 20 years Karibu is thriving.

​​Sue Ling, Community Engagement Officer, has an in depth knowledge of the issues affecting different communities and anti discrimination legislation. Managerial expertise with over 20 years’ experience in team management and a proven track record in loyalty, dedication and diligence, and strong project and people management experience. Her most recent experiences are CEO of Bury St Edmunds Women's Aid, Snr Equality & Diversity Advisor managing Suffolk County Councils performance against the Equality Framework for Local Government.

Sarah Moore is a committed public sector professional with a strong background in supporting individuals and families from diverse and underrepresented communities. With over 10 years’ experience in youth engagement, employment policy, and service development, She is passionate about breaking down barriers and creating inclusive pathways for those facing disadvantage. In her current role, she works closely with young people navigating challenges related to education, mental health, and employment, using a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach. Sarah is proud to support Karibu’s mission of promoting cultural awareness, equality, and empowerment for ethnic minority communities across Ipswich and Suffolk.

Imani Sorhainddo - Freelance Mindfulness trainer and holistic health practitioner. She is the director of the aware winning company KMT Rising which enables inclusive health and wellbeing services locally and globally.
